Being Good

A social experiment giving us a new definition of 'Being Good':

More than a year back, myself and Sanjay Churiwala started a social experiment. Idea was to help fund some meals daily for the needy in our area. Near our society we had a person called Badri (himself quite poor) who used to come every morning on his bike to sell breakfast meals. We asked him to give 15 meals free everyday (to the needy). So he agreed to charge us 15/- instead of the regular sales price of 20/-. From that day we have been giving him 1575/- every week.
The experiment was that there was no way to check if he was indeed doing that. We were reconciled that even if he was keeping the money - it was still helping a poor person: himself.

Recently came COVID and with it lockdown. There was no way for this person - Badri - to come daily. But we continued sending him the weekly money just to help him. (He never asked for it).
To our heartwarming surprise, he is using this money to give free meals nearby his house to destitute people.

How a poor person has elevated himself in such desperate times for himself !!

This is the beauty of Being Good - just needs a heart and not a social status.

Badri - you reinforced our faith in the goodness of this world !
